A walk from The Hawthorn Historic Inn to Balboa Park is a pleasant, short journey through a beautiful San Diego neighborhood. Here's a general idea of what that walk entails:
Starting Point:
Begin at The Hawthorn Historic Inn on First Avenue.
Heading Towards the Park:
Step outside and head uphill (north) on First Avenue.
Turn right on Laurel St. and you will be heading toward the Laurel Street Bridge AND
you will pass DOG PARK so bring your dog too!
Entering Balboa Park:
After exercising your dog, cross the Laurel Street bridge! Voila ! You are on the Prado, which is a main thoroughfare within Balboa Park. (built in 1915)
The Prado will take you into the heart of Balboa park, where dozens of the museums and attractions are located. And fun restaurants for every budget
The Experience:
The walk is relatively short, and offers scenic views of the surrounding Banker's Hill neighborhood. You will pass many historic homes.
The walk is generally considered easy, and is a great way to approach the park.
Essentially, you'll be moving from the charming historic ambiance of the inn into the culturally rich and visually stunning landscape of Balboa Park.
