La Jolla on a Dime...

Not really. BUT The Hawthorne Historic Inn discovered a hidden gem if you plan to visit La Jolla for a day. The La Jolla Athletic Club. M-F 7:30 to 5:00 and Saturday Sunday 9:00 - 5:00

The Club has a private walkway to La Jolla Cove. A day membership comes with free three hour parking too. And if you leave the parking garage before your three hours are up you can re-enter and get a new parking validation. The club has a huge sauna and Jacuzzi and a outdoor shower and indoor showers too.

1202 Prospect - Drive to the level 5 of the parking garage. Call for rates and updated hours. 858 454 7194. You also will get as part of your daily membership free towels.

Bottom line - you get to park at the cove, the priviliges of a private club - for the average cost of parking inh La Jolla. Or, alternatively come to the Cove before 8:00 A.M. and you may just find free parking but usually it is limited to 90 minutes or two hours. Parking tickest are $64!
